What Onalia is
Onalia is a sacred toilet perfume, eighty percent volume, used for generations by the Hounon and the spiritual practitioners of Ouidah in their work. In the cosmology of Vodun, a scent is understood as a carrier of vibration: it acts on the field of the person who wears it and on those who come near. Onalia is associated with softness and with attraction.
A word on the name of the tradition. Vodun is often written Voodoo in the West, a spelling that carries a century of cinema with it. Onalia belongs to Vodun, the living tradition of Ouidah, in Benin.
What it is used for
- drawing a loved one closer and strengthening an existing bond
- creating a field of attraction and of natural charm around you
- the work of reconciliation carried out by the Hounon of Ouidah
- clearing the aura and keeping negative influences at a distance
- accompanying offerings to the divinities of love

Every bottle that leaves Ouidah is selected and blessed according to the rites before it is sent. If your bottle came from somewhere else, I cannot tell you what is in it, and I will not pretend that I can.
